DKOU 2024 in Berlin: Unterkünfte im Louisa’s Place

In February this year, Louisa’s Place underwent a small makeover. Haven’t you noticed it yet? That’s normal, because even though small improvements are constantly being made, this major makeover took place on the roof of our hotel! Since the beginning of Louisa’s Place in 2003, the entire roof area of the hotel has been equipped with solar panels, as we have always endeavoured to use resources responsibly. Now it was time to replace them with more efficient models. And because this doesn’t happen every day, we’d like to take the opportunity to share some photos of the construction site, our partner and our vision for the hotel’s sustainability.

How were the solar panels replaced?

This replacement required very precise organisation, as not only did part of the road adjacent to the hotel have to be closed for several days, but a transport team and a crane operator were also involved in the process to bring the new modules onto the roof and lower the old modules back down. In short, perfect coordination, communication and operation of the crane was more than necessary to avoid damaging the listed façade.

The whole process was supervised by our head technician at the hotel to ensure that everything ran smoothly. In order to continue to use the full potential of the PV system, the existing modules and inverters were replaced. The substructure was adapted to the new modules and was thus largely retained as desired.

Sustainability at Hotel Louisa’s Place in the future

Independence, energy security and ecological considerations are the reasons why our boutique hotel has been moving in this direction for over 20 years. The use of solar energy is a small step towards sustainability that we are happy to take in order to make a contribution to our climate. There is much more we can do in this area, but we are already on the right track. A few months ago, for example, we equipped our underground car park with e-charging stations for more e-mobility for our guests and other large and small projects for more sustainability are to follow.

Im Februar dieses Jahres wurde das Louisa’s Place einem kleinen Makeover unterzogen. Haben Sie es noch nicht bemerkt? Das ist normal, denn auch wenn stetig kleine Verbesserungen voran treiben, so fand dieses große Makeover auf dem Dach unseres Hotels statt! Seit dem Beginn des Louisa’s Place im Jahr 2003 ist die gesamte Dachfläche des Hotels mit Solarpaneelen ausgestattet, da wir seit je her um einen verantwortungsvollen Umgang mit Ressourcen bemüht sind. Nun war es an der Zeit, diese durch effizientere Modelle zu ersetzen. Und weil so etwas nicht jeden Tag passiert, möchten wir die Gelegenheit nutzen, um einige Fotos von der Baustelle, unserem Partner und unserer Vision zur Nachhaltigkeit des Hotels zu teilen.

Wie wurden die Solarpaneele ausgetauscht?

Dieser Austausch erforderte eine sehr genaue Organisation, da nicht nur ein Teil der an das Hotel angrenzenden Straße für mehrere Tage gesperrt werden musste, sondern auch ein Transportteam und ein Kranfahrer in den Prozess eingebunden waren, um die neuen Module auf das Dach zu bringen und die alten Module wieder herunterzulassen. Kurzum, eine perfekte Abstimmung, Kommunikation und Bedienung des Krans war mehr als notwendig, um die zudem denkmalgeschützte Fassade nicht zu beschädigen.

Das Ganze wurde von unserem Cheftechniker im Hotel überwacht, damit alles reibungslos ablief. Um weiterhin das volle Potential der PV-Anlage auszuschöpfen, wurden die vorhandenen Module & Wechselrichter ersetzt. Die Unterkonstruktion wurde an die neuen Module angepasst und konnte so, zu einem großen Teil, wunschgemäß erhalten bleiben.
